![]() In some levels, this is the only way to reach your goal, so direction of the horde becomes critically important. Barrels of toxic infection are placed in areas, which refill your syringe supplies when zombies walk past them. As an added bonus, there are a number of armed humans that can be difficult to overpower, and when one of the challenge goals is to not lose any zombies during the attack, more strategy must be applied to turn them as soon as possible to minimize risk. Later levels introduce you to the complicated concept of directing the zombies via small arrows on the ground (to go up and down stairs), and unlocking doors (via small icons underneath said doors). This simplicity gives way, very slowly, to a degree of difficulty that is maddeningly addictive. Since people will scream and run away, you must figure out how to surround them, and seeing as how you have a few syringes of the “good stuff” to pass around, it’s not difficult to just infect those on the outside of the screen, so they can close in. ![]() As a challenge, you can attempt to kill every human. For example, the first level instructs you to kill 12 humans with the virus, via zombies. The game begins with different chapters, each with a goal and a challenge. I think it’s pretty safe to say that if the syringe is glowing, that’s even more incentive not to inject. The premise behind Zombie Night Terror isn’t terribly different, you’re just strategically placing infections and directing them via environment guides. I have killed the entire world with a bacteria in less time than it takes between being called into an exam room and the doctor arriving (this is my primary mobile gaming time, ironically). and Infectonator have proven me to be a great vector for dis- wait, no, they prove that I am a great controller of vectors of disease. I feel pretty confident in saying that games like Plague, Inc. A sometimes very slow-paced strategy game (I mean, these aren’t exactly the energetic zombies from 28 Days Later), Zombie takes games such as Infectonator and expands on the concept so that players aren’t simply placing zombies and hoping for the best players are controlling the horde…at least, that’s the idea. Such is the premise of Zombie Night Terror, from developer NoClip. Glowing an ominous green, it causes users to become nauseated, coughing up blood until they become part of an unholy army of the undead. The Unheard will be screaming on Shudder March 31st.A poorly-cut, homemade intravenous drug called Romero (nudge nudge, wink wink) is causing some additional side effects than those that are usually experienced. Between the Rasussens and Brown I think we’re going to be set up for quite a fascinating, and terrifying, film. Crawlwas an excellent and tense creature feature, while The Ward was a fairly interesting asylum horror piece. It’s really up in the air which direction The Unheard will take, but writers Shawn and Michael Rasmussen have a fairly decent track record with projects. From there an element of found footage seems to be introduced, when Chloe uncovers old films of her and her mother. Slowly the film devolves into madness as Chloe runs into a very old friend, which is accompanied by sounds of her mother. Chloe gets a surgery done that restores her hearing, which prompts her to listen to enjoy the sounds we all take for granted like the popping of popcorn or the faint fizzing of a carbonated beverage. The trailer for The Unheard starts off subtly sweet. ![]() The Unheard looks to take my wanting of more of this type of story, and amps it up even more. Granted the ending of “Phase 1” wraps the story up, but that didn’t stop me from wanting more. My biggest gripe with “Phase 1” is that I wanted them to go more into it. One of the segments in 2, “Phase 1 Clinical Trials” is my third favorite segment out of the entire franchise. My second favorite installment in the V/H/Sfranchise is hands down V/H/S/2, or S-VHS, whichever you prefer to call it. ![]() So she begins to suffer from auditory hallucinations related to the disappearance of her mother. Chloe Grayden (Lachlan Watson) undergoes an experimental procedure to restore her hearing.
